Leading home security specialist, Yale has integrated Philips Hue lights with its smart home alarm system. Together they add an innovative security element to the home, combining light and sound to create an additional level of deterrence for burglars.

Launching at consumer technology exhibition IFA, the new integration will provide Yale smart home alarm customers with additional features to allow them to personalise their smart home security around their family’s needs.

The seamless integration between Philip’s Hue smart lights from Signify (Euronext: LIGHT), the world leader in lighting, and Yale’s smart home alarms means that customers can add a visual deterrent with flashing lights to draw attention to their home in the event of a break-in and discourage would-be burglars.

The integration will also add another level of convenience to homeowners with the visual reassurance that their Yale smart home alarm is set. For example, when setting the alarm, the lights will flash to indicate that the system is armed.

When used in conjunction with a Philips Hue colour ambient bulbs, the lights will flash red in the event of a break-in.

Kate Clark, Managing Director for Yale EMEA said: “Our integration with Philips Hue is the latest example of co-operation between two leading brands to make Smart Living a reality for homeowners. By launching at IFA, we can demonstrate the new integration to professionals within the industry and demonstrate how Yale Smart Living is leading the way in creating a complete smart security ecosystem.”

Duncan McCue, Head of Partnerships for Philips Hue at Signify, said, “People are really beginning to appreciate the value smart home technology brings to their lives. This latest integration illustrates the versatility and compatablity of Philips Hue lights and underlines the importance of lighting to home security.”

About Yale
Yale, one of the oldest, international brands in the world, is the best-known name in the lock industry. A family business started in America, Linus Yale Jr. was experimenting with a lock based on a mechanism first employed by the ancient Egyptians over 4,000 years ago. This was how he came to invent the famous pin tumbler mechanism which is still used extensively in the security industry today.

In the early 20th century, the company expanded worldwide and employed more than 12,000 people. In August 2000, Yale was purchased by the ASSA ABLOY Group

ASSA ABLOY is the global leader in door opening solutions, dedicated to satisfying end-user needs for security, safety and convenience. Since its formation in 1994, ASSA ABLOY has grown from a regional company into an International group with about 47,000 employees, operations in more than 70 countries and sales close to SEK 71 billion. In the fast-growing electromechanical security segment, the Group has a leading position in areas such as access control, identification technology, entrance automation and hotel security.
